Black Swan

What a dark way to welcome in the new year but this was what a movie should be if you are into dark and suspenseful movies that are brilliantly directed.  I had to see this one because Natalie Portman is in it for one and the buzz around the movie is that she is a clear cut Oscar winner for this performance and after seeing it I more than completely agree, I think the previous 4 winners should give their Oscar's to her for this one performance was incredible.  Directed by the brilliant Darren Aronofsky (Requim for a Dream, The Wrestler) Black Swan is a suspensful and grippingly powerful tale of what so many of us struggle with in our life, the need to be right, to be perfect only under a magnifying glass of one of the most high stress and high pain tolerance jobs in the arts, a ballerina for the New York City Ballet.  This need to be perfect causes many things that are just abnormal and shocking, I'll let you witness it and won't spoil it here.  I was compelled by the story of the Black and White Swan's that Natalie's character struggles with as it represents alot of the dark and light, good and bad in each of us.  Sometimes it is safe to be guarded and secure and other times it is important to live and be loose giving in to a moment of uncertanty and vulnerability because that is where we discover our true selves.  I cannot say enough about the direction of this movie and the acting.  On top of all that, there is a hot love scene with Natalie and Mila Kunis, added bonus for those of us with a thing for Natalie Portman.  My wife agreed she did a beast of an acting job and should easily win the Oscar.  We got chills, had thrills, and took so much away from such a complex disturbing movie.  Absolutely wonderful.  Movie of the year, I am in a toss between Black Swan and The Fighter both are so good for so many different reasons, but I have to give it to Black Swan as I felt alot of different emotions throughout this picture, the direction, so good.  See this movie if you havent already.
